a winter love story
Every winter,
When the great Sun has turned his face away,
The Earth goes down into a vale of grief,
And fasts, and weeps, and shrouds herself in sables,
Leaving her wedding-garlands to decay -
Then leaps in spring to his returning kisses.

what makes a home
last project from the holiday season catch-up...
this was a collaboration between my hubbie and I
it was very difficult to capture the subtle paint colors and textures with photos - unfortunately it looks much darker/grungier than it is in person...but you get the idea
textures and glazes in paint, simple found objects and collage
combined to represent the simple pleasures that reminded us of home
simple compositions and groupings of common objects sometimes make the most impact
it is very large - the substrate is an old barn board - hubbie and I had a really nice time creating this together
I don't get a chance to work large very often so this was a wonderful treat - working in different scales is a great way to challenge your artistic self
and mom was tickled with the result - which is the best part of all
