winter miscellany

quickie post today...we are busy little bees
the snow has finally come

sneak peek of project on the worktable

I don't think I ever shared this little sweetie...I was able to treat myself this last October at ART IS YOU to a night class with JoAnnA Pierotti.  This was a really fun project that I immensely enjoyed and JoAnna is awesome.  As an instructor and vendor, I usually do not have a second to even breathe but we made it happen - time to just sit and play.

hibernation

it has been awhile...sorry about that.
every year around thanksgiving time I begin to "shut-down"
It is not depression or lack of sun, it is I think exhaustion
a need for deep decompression

I actually look forward to this time of year as I can snuggle into my warm home with warm food, good books, good movies, good sleep and lots of studio time

although my mind and body may shutdown during the holidays, come mid-January I seem to "wake up"
and my mind is on fire with ideas and projects and to do's
everything from new workshop ideas, submitting articles to Somerset to painting my dining room and picking which fruit trees to plant in spring...my mind is now going a mile a minute and the lists keep growing!  are you a listmaker?  I love my lists!  poor hubby's eyes get wide with all my energetic ideas :)

so anyway, I AM AWAKE
and I look forward to another year sharing ideas, thoughts, art and dreams with you

p.s. I was so psyched at christmas to receive 2 more very handy tools for my kitchen in support of my effort to homestead...a pressure-cooker and a really good food processor!  woo hoo!!

we are all fools here in Maine

April Fools that is...

just when the piles had melted, the grass was greening, the spring bulbs were sprouting, the days were becoming mild...mother nature had a little trick up her sleeve

shimmer

we received a wicked ice storm...lost power for a day and the whole bit...but it was SOOOO beautiful!
now if only I could become a better photographer :(

the shimmer & glimmer of the landscape is stunning in person
the trees are glazed and make a crackling sound as they move in the wind
it is both an eery & beautiful sound

a winter love story

Every winter,
When the great Sun has turned his face away,
The Earth goes down into a vale of grief,
And fasts, and weeps, and shrouds herself in sables,
Leaving her wedding-garlands to decay -
Then leaps in spring to his returning kisses.
