new projects

wooooo-eeeeeee!  its been busy around this farmhouse!
kinda out of breath...
we are opening our antiques shoppe for its 5th summer season
and hubby and I have been junking, thrifting, cleaning, dusting, fixing, pricing, setting up displays
we. are. tired.
but we love it - its always a big push for opening day and then we settle into the groove and have a blast

I will be happy when we open because I have a list of house projects a mile long once I can move onto them...besides the typical spring gardening push, we need to refresh our porches
source
few minor fixes, new paint, new look
sooo, I have been bopping about online looking for inspiring photos
source
love this one - the overhead light and the accessories - yum!
source
the ceiling color is pretty
source
simple and beautiful
source
would LOVE to renovate our porches to be larger and more useful like this one
source
light, bright & pretty

so what do you like best about a farmhouse porch?

I Wanna Play!

I am excited to participate in Flea Market Friday
hosted by Kecia Deveney of Lemoncholy's

Some of our finds go into our antiques shoppe
Some are added to our website and
Some are just mine o' mine :)

here are some of our recent treasures...
awesome old typewriter

adorable mother goose book - the illustrations are amazing

I just love this jug - especially the aqua paint!

vintage metal childs kitchen

old adding machine

I LOVE old luggage and picnic baskets

a cutie little shoe

chippy watering can and a tiny broken doll foot

I collect chalkware - this little lass was a recent gift

I also collect little dogs - look at that face

another new dog and a cool old Coffee container

I know, I know...how many dogs does one girl need?
I couldn't resist - this guy is chalkware

gorgeous antique song book

now this little one isn't very new but I had to share her new attire
This is my fave find of the year - read the original post here
I was lucky enough to get a beautiful rosette gift from my friend Kecia when she taught at Art in the Rough in August.  I adore it.  When I wasn't looking she added it to my dollie - I LOVED IT!
then a few days ago I was sorting through some new junk we hauled in and I found this shabby wire lampshade.  It was tattered, faded and perfect for her little head

baubles, broken jewelry, buttons - lots of sorting to do!

summer night spectacle

the show began with a creeping fog

it lurked amongst the fields
and spread its feathery tips in and around the swaying corn

whispering
beckoning

an odd audience was in attendance, watching silently

the shadows began to cast their ink-blue hues

it seemed as if time had stood still

the audience gasped...then fell silent once again in awe

around the farmhouse

thought I'd share a quick visual tour around the farmhouse right now...

peonies...aaaaaaaahhhhh...so beautiful and so fragrant

a $2 auction find adds a unique touch to a garden spot - hubby finds her a bit creepy but I think it adds some whimsy

fluffy clouds and fields of yellow dandies

one of my favorite perennial hardy geraniums is coming into bloom

front porch refresh

newly planted vertical garden - an old partitioned box planted with succulents and portulaca - will share more pictures later in the season when its matured and filled in a bit

found some massive snapdragons at a local nursery - the biggest I have ever seen

my favorite delights are the simplest...the newest junk additions - an old, chippy metal table and wonderful, aged tins planted with small specimens

a new climbing rose we are trying this year...so far so good...I am in love with this color!
